Fresh wax is colorless to glass, but becomes yellow when in contact with pollen and propolis, from very light yellow to tan. The smell of wax is also formed from honey, pollen and propolis. In the sunlight the wax fades. If the wax is high in propolis, it may have a greenish tinge. One kilogram of wax requires four kilograms of honey. The wax is directed by young bees, wax is produced by special bee glands at the bottom of the abdomen, liquid wax squeezes out through small pores and quickly solidifies in the air into a thin wax plate. This thin wax plate is mixed by bees with saliva and used to build beeswax cells. During the year, a strong bee family produces up to 7kg of beeswax. Wax is obtained after honey is expelled from the cells, which is why beeswax is so valuable ❤️
