Fresh bee wax is colourless like glass, but it becomes yellow when it is in contact with pollen and propolis, from very light yellow to tan. The smell of bee wax is also formed from honey, pollen and propolis. In the sunlight the bee wax colour fades. If bee wax has a lot of propolis in it, it may have a greenish colour. One kilogram of bee wax requires four kilograms of honey. When burning a bee wax candle, the melted wax partially vaporizes and fills the room with a pleasant smell. The wax burns without residue, but evaporates essential oils into the air.
